Stereo Link & Model Selector
Choose how channels behave and which tube circuit defines your sound. The Stereo Link switch toggles between a unified stereo compressor and independent L/R mono modes. The Model A/B/C/Off selector puts four distinct compression characters at your fingertips — each captured from real hardware using dynamic convolution.
- Stereo Link: Full stereo or independent L/R mono compression modes
- Model A: Warm tube character — musical and cohesive
- Model B: Slightly brighter with distinct harmonic coloring
- Model C: Aggressive, vintage character with rich saturation
- Model Off: Transparent compression — no tube coloration
- BIAS: Drive the tube bias for additional saturation on all 4 models
Gain, Compression & Mix Controls
Every stage of the signal path is under your command. The Input Gain saturates the tube models just like the real hardware when pushed hard. Threshold and Knee shape compression character, while 6 Release modes let you dial in timing from fast broadcast response to slow programme-following behaviour. The Mix control enables parallel compression without extra routing.
- Input Gain (±24dB): Drives tube saturation independently of compression
- Output Gain (±24dB): Final stage level trim
- Threshold (+10 to -30dB): Controls when compression engages
- Knee: Shape compression curve from soft to hard knee
- 6 Release Modes: Fast to slow, including programme-adaptive modes
- Mix: Parallel blend of compressed and uncompressed signal
- VU Meters: Real-time gain reduction for both channels
Sidechain & Filter Section
A full modern sidechain circuit — something the original hardware never had. Filter exactly what drives the compression detector, so you get the dynamics behavior you want without low-end pumping or high-frequency over-compression. Firechild gives the vintage compressor the tools it always deserved.
- Sidechain Gain: Drive the sidechain circuit harder for more compression
- LP Filter (20 Hz – 20 kHz): 24 dB/oct low pass on the sidechain signal
- HP Filter (20 Hz – 20 kHz): 24 dB/oct high pass on the sidechain signal
- Sidechain Power: Toggle sidechain circuit on or off
- Main Power: Bypass switch for quick A/B before/after comparison
