Grey-box modeling
Not a black box, not just a schematic. RES-Q II is grey box: real circuit models, tuned against measurements of the hardware.
Every shelf, filter and drive stage runs as a live circuit — the capacitors, the coils and the amplifier that drives them — so the bands lean on each other and saturate the way a console channel does. Then we sampled the hardware and fitted the models to it, to catch what a schematic alone misses.
The result sounds like the real channel and costs almost nothing to run: a few percent of a single CPU core at the default setting.

Four drive circuits
TYPE picks the circuit: A, an American console amplifier; N, a British console preamp; T, a triode valve stage; P, a pentode. Each one is the circuit itself, solved in real time — DRIVE takes it from a faint glow to proper saturation.
Bass Cut: drive without the mud
Press BASS CUT and the low end steps around the drive circuit and rejoins it time-aligned. Kick and bass stay tight and solid while the mids and the top take all the colour. POST moves the drive after the EQ.
British shelves, American mids
The HIGH and LOW BAND shelves are a circuit model of the classic British console EQ, its musical overshoot included. The H-MIDS and L-MIDS are proportional-Q bells in the American style: broad when you go gently, focused when you push. Every band has its own in / out.
LIN: linear phase on demand
Switch LIN on and the very same EQ curve is applied with no phase shift — for mastering, parallel busses and anything that has to stay phase-coherent. Switch it off for the circuit's own phase and feel. The latency is reported, so your session stays in time.
Age and Drift
AGE tires the components the way years do: capacitors lose value, coils lose Q, the amplifier loses gain — a darker, softer, well-used unit. DRIFT gives the left and right channels the small mismatches of two real channels, plus a slow thermal wander: width and life that a perfect copy never has.
AUTO: judge tone, not volume
Louder always sounds better, which makes every EQ move a trick question. AUTO measures how loud the signal goes in and comes out and sets one fixed gain to match — then leaves the sound alone. It is a measurement, not a leveller: your dynamics are untouched.
Super light on CPU
The circuits are solved efficiently, so the whole channel — drive, four bands, filters and AUTO — uses only a few percent of one core at the default 2x. Raise the drive's oversampling to 16x for the cleanest top end when you print, and everything stays click-free while you switch.

Ten banks to start from: vocals, drums, bass, guitars, keys and synths, acoustic and orchestral, mix bus, mastering, drive and colour, and surgical fixes. Search, mark favorites, compare A and B, undo and redo.

Made for every channel
Low CPU and no fuss: the EQ you can leave on every track. Nothing clicks or zippers as you turn a knob or switch a band in, the latency is reported to the sample, and POWER crossfades in and out. RES-Q II replaces RES-Q and is a free upgrade for RES-Q 1 owners — activate with your existing license, and your sessions open in version 2.
