We built the hardware first
Six months, real tubes, Sowter and Lundahl iron — we built a golden unit, then modeled every path of it.
Black Q started life as a physical build: swapping tubes, transformers and signal paths until the unit had super powers. Then we captured both transformer paths and the valve choices in DSP.
Type A gives a full sound with big low end; Type B is crunchier with enhanced mids and highs. Low latency, light on CPU — track through it, stack instances freely.

Two transformer paths
Sowter and Lundahl iron, captured as Type A (full, big low end) and Type B (crunchy, mid/high enhanced). Real transformers, really modeled.
Overlapping bands
V3 introduces overlapping bands and new frequency ranges — Low, Mid, High and Air, voiced for drums, vocals, piano and strings alike.
Up to 8× oversampling
Choose your oversampling up to 8× for the most analog behavior your CPU can afford — or run light for tracking with very low latency.
